Foods you can scan

Last Updated: Feb 03, 2017 08:13AM GMT
A spectrometric database like DietSensor’s database is not a collection of unique references like a barcode database would be. It is made of algorithms able to recognise the category of the scanned food, and then, in the given category, to provide a value in % for a specific nutrient. There is one algorithm per nutrient for each category, i.e. Fat for Fresh Meat, Carbs for fresh Meat and Protein for Fresh Meat. Each algorithm has been designed for a specific range of %. This range could evolve in the future to be representative of the real food you want to scan.

We are continuously developing and improving our spectrometric database, the following categories are now available:
  • Soft Dessert and Cream
  • Protein Shakes
  • Water based Sorbet,
  • Cooked Starchy Vegetables and Pulses

The table below gives an overview of the categories covered by the DietSensor database today, with detailed types of food covered in each categorie.

Please read the article about which types of food are not compatible today with our database.

Fish, Meat & Eggs

Cereal based products

Dairy Products

Fruits and Vegetables

Other products

Congratulations, you now know the homogeneous foods which can be scanned using your SCiO scanner.
